Reading is a great way to feed your mind and soul but also a great way to practice self-care.

Last year I set out to read 12 books, unfortunately, I failed miserably. I only made it to 4, which I guess is better than none, right!?!. This year though I am determined to do better and reach my goal of finishing my 2021 reading list. Right now I am glad to report as I am writing this post, I am more than halfway through my first book for the year!

So, in this post, I am sharing with you 12 books to read in 2021.

1- Year Of Yes by Shonda Rhimes

I’ve heard nothing but great things about this book and I felt it would be a great addition to my 2021 reading list.

This poignant, intimate, and hilarious memoir explores Shonda’s life before her Year of Yes. From her nerdy, book-loving childhood to her devotion to creating television characters who reflected the world she saw around her. The book chronicles her life after her Year of Yes had begun—when Shonda forced herself out of the house and onto the stage; when she learned to explore, empower, applaud, and love her truest self.

2- Superfans by Pat Flynn

As I mentioned earlier, I am more than halfway through this book, and so far I’m finding it to be very insightful.

Whether you’re a shy YouTuber just starting out, or the leader of a Fortune 500 company, your superfans are out there waiting for you to connect with them. You don’t need to change the entire world to build a successful business; you just need to change someone’s world.

3- Do More Better by Tim Challies

Productivity and execution are something I struggle with a lot, so as soon as I saw this book, I just knew I had to add it to my reading list.

In Do More Better, you will learn common obstacles to productivity / The great purpose behind productivity / 3 essential tools for getting things done / The power of daily and weekly routines / And much more, including bonus material on taming your email and 20 tips Tim has learned along the way.

7- Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis

In Girl, Stop Apologizing, Rachel Hollis sounds like a wake-up call. She knows that many women have been taught to define themselves in light of other people—whether as wife, mother, daughter, or employee—instead of learning how to own who they are and what they want. With a challenge to women everywhere to stop talking themselves out of their dreams, Hollis identifies the excuses to let go of, the behaviors to adopt, and the skills to acquire on the path to growth, confidence, and believing in yourself. Age Range: Adult.

8- I Almost Forgot About You by Terry McMillan

This book was gifted to me by a dear friend a couple of years ago, but it’s been sitting here gathering dust. I believe 2021 is the year to bring it out. This book is named one of the best books of the year by Library Journal.

It is the inspiring story of a woman who shakes things up in her life to find greater meaning.

In I Almost Forgot About You, Dr. Georgia Young’s wonderful life—great friends, family, and successful career—aren’t enough to keep her from feeling stuck and restless. When she decides to make some major changes in her life, including quitting her job as an optometrist and moving house, she finds herself on a wild journey that may or may not include a second chance at love. Georgia’s bravery reminds us that it’s never too late to become the person you want to be and that taking chances, with your life and your heart, is always worthwhile.
