MY HUSBAND STYLED ME FOR AN ALL-WHITE EVENT

Recently, I had the great pleasure of joining one of my very good friends to celebrate her birthday with an elegant all-white affair.

She was very specific about what she wanted and expected all of her guests to wear all-white.  Silly me, I only glanced at the invitation when I received it since she had already verbally communicated with me the details for this event.

I’m saying this to preface the fact that I didn’t realize that part of the requirements for the night was that we all needed to wear all white. My original plan to wear a pink skirt which is my favorite color went out of the window. Thankfully, my husband reminded me he had nothing to wear for the occasion which is the moment it finally dawned on me that I too, needed a white outfit.

Off to the mall, we went trying to pick an all-white outfit for the night with very little time to spare.

I don’t normally bring my husband to my shopping sprees. He is the kind to complain my ears off which usually annoys the life out of me then leads me to leave prematurely. If you have a significant other, chances are you know what I’m talking about. This time was different. We both needed to find something to wear in a short amount of time.

He decided we would look for my outfit first since he thought I would need more time. He was right about that.

We went to Macy’s. I chose Macy’s for the simple fact that I knew they would have more options available which would save me the trouble of having to bounce from one store to another. I was right! As soon as we stepped into the women’s department, there was no shortage of white to pick from. There were white dresses, white jumpsuits, white separates, white everything. That was pretty surprising to see considering the time of the year. Usually, we find the most white during Easter time. That is beside the point though.

Although they have enough white clothing to style a whole village, I was having a difficult time finding something to suit my style. I grabbed just about everything single white outfit I could put my hands on that was my size and made a run to the fitting rooms. On my way there, I noticed a very beautiful dress that was hanging that I did not notice before. I asked the fitting room attendant if they had any more of those dresses. She told me to look in the dress department, a whole section I failed to explore.

I left my husband sitting next to the fitting rooms with an arm full of all-white clothes and ran to the other section of the store. 15 minutes later l was back with a ton more whites. Finally, I felt confident enough that I could walk out with at least one outfit that I would be content with.

I proceeded to try on the dresses one after another. Some I liked, some I hated, nothing I loved.

My husband was having a hard time finding the beauty in everything I was trying on. It was discouraging. I usually am pretty good at picking my clothes. In our home, I am the one who makes all the fashion decisions. Not that I consider myself a fashion-forward individual, but I’m pretty decent at finding what works for both of us. This time around I struggled and the clock was ticking.  Plus, we still needed to find his outfit.

It finally came down to 3 pieces, one mini dress, and two Calvin Klein jumpsuits. The dress did not work out, we both hated it with the same energy. I liked one jumpsuit, he preferred the other.  Usually, I would make the final decision and pick what I liked since I consider myself to have a better eye for fashion. This time around, I thought to myself I should probably listen to him since he felt so confident telling me what he thought. That is exactly what I did. We bought the jumpsuit he felt I looked my best in, and it truly was the best decision!

After makeup and hair were done, I slid into this jumpsuit and felt amazing. I paired it with a pair of leopard print sandals and a beautiful white mini purse. It is the most beautiful I’ve felt since the pandemic started. Everyone said I looked great and at that moment with a huge smile on my face I thought, maybe, just maybe, he pretends to be clueless when it comes to fashion just so that he doesn’t have to pick his own clothes. Lol! What do you think?

Would you ever let your husband dress you? Why?
