“Come through, hair!” Don’t you just love getting compliments after excellent washday results? I know I do!

After one year of transitioning back to my natural hair and finding out that I have high porosity hair, I had to come up with a good regimen but also find the best products to work on my high porosity hair.  So below I am going to share with you the products that have changed the game for me, and I hope they do the same for you too.

As you should now know if you read my previous post,  protein treatments, regular deep conditioning sessions, and sealing moisture into your hair are the keys to maintaining healthy high porosity hair.

I truly believe that the products below can each make a big difference in improving the health of your high porosity hair and in turn give you desirable results with regular use.

Here are some of my favorite products to use and also why I always keep them in stock

Cleansing Co-Wash

As I Am Coconut Co-Wash

With castor and coconut oil as the main ingredients, As I Am’s Coconut Cowash is one of the most moisturizing co-washes I have ever used! I am not exaggerating when I say that it always leaves my hair buttery soft & extra moisturized. After using As I Am Co-wash, my strands always feel smooth and clean, the best part is detangling is also a breeze due to the slip. The smell is also subtle, but pleasant.

As I Am’s co-wash is my go-to in between shampoos. If you are an active person who needs to cleanse in between shampoo, this cleansing conditioner is gentle enough to use a few times a week to remove buildup.

Leave-In Conditioner

Kinky-Curly Knot Today

Kinky-Curly’s Knot Today is a light leave-in conditioner and detangler. This miracle-worker is friendly for all porosities and does wonders for textured hair. It is designed to smooth the hair cuticle and melt away tangles.

Can you believe it also has less than 10 ingredients? (!!!) Organic mango extract, organic slippery elm, organic marshmallow root, organic lemongrass.

What I love about Knot Today is that I can use it alone, during the L.O.C. method, to detangle in between washes or when refreshing with water & a spray bottle. This leave-in is so light yet rich at the same time and always removes knots relatively quickly. All you need is a few passes with your detangling brush or comb after application and you’re good to go.

Deep Conditioners

Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Masque

If you’re looking for a thick, dense, and rich deep conditioner look no further! Anytime my hair is on the frizzy & dry side I reach for Shea Moisture’s Manuka Honey & Marfura Oil Masque. The additional active ingredients such as shea butter and baobab oil ensure that your hair is mega hydrated.

I also think of this masque as a light protein treatment because it contains hydrolyzed rice protein. Each time I use it, my curls are always smooth and frizz-free!

TGIN Miracle RepaiRX Curl Protein Reconstructor

My choice for a more intense protein treatment is Thank God It’s Natural’s Curl Protein Reconstructor. You leave it in for three minutes and hello shine & softness! With protein temporarily restored, remember to follow with a moisturizing deep conditioner.

If you are familiar with TGIN’s Honey Miracle mask, it has the same slip and consistency.

Mielle Organics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner

For moisture & protein balancing deep conditioner, Mielle Organics’ Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner is a great option. The tub is small and the consistency is watery, but don’t let that fool you! A little goes a long way for this product to replenish protein/moisture balance in your hair.

The cooling sensations from the mint on the scalp is also a nice touch. I usually pair this with my favorite Mielle Organics styler for an amazing wash n go!

Shampoo and Conditioner Duo

Rizos Reina Hydrating Shampoo & Deep Conditioner

You’re in for a treat with Rizos Reina Shampoo and Conditioner. These products are true to their name! The shampoo, which contains shea butter and moringa oil, is so hydrating – your hair will immediately feel stronger and moisturized. It is also an effective cleanser without stripping your hair.

As for the Deep Conditioner: the olive oil, sunflower oil, and coconut oils allow for tangles to unravel easily. Leave it in for a little longer as a mask for shiny locks. I have not found another deep conditioner that leaves my hair as soft as this one.

This duo really packs a punch while making your hair look and feel great!

Righteous Roots RX

I’ve heard of Righetous Roots Oils being referred to as liquid gold for its versatility and oil blend. It consists of: coconut, Jamaican black castor, olive, avocado, grapeseed, sesame, peppermint, tea tree, jojoba, argan & rosemary oils. All of these ingredients are a naturalista’s best friend!

You can use RRO as a pre-poo, hot oil treatments, L.O.C. method, and scalp massages to encourage hair growth.

Based on these properties alone, I’m sure you’re curious to try Righteous Roots. I personally use RRO to seal in moisture – my wash n go’s end up moisturized for days! I have not regretted switching from other oil blends to this one.
